Are you an American eater or a Continental (European) eater?

tooraloora:

acerstella:

Short form: Do you cut your food with your dominant hand and then switch your fork to your dominant hand to eat with the tines of the fork pointed upwards (American) or do you not switch your fork from your non-dominant hand after cutting your food and eat your food with the tines of the fork pointed downwards (European)?

I read this in my copy of the Emily Post manners guide and I giggled to myself because I eat European style. I blame this on being raised by my parents, one being Canadian and the other having learned their manners in Australia.

Oh man.

I eat European style, too.

(^ In fact, DJ, I remember specifically getting lectured by Grandpa Chris about utensil holding and placement.)

I never realized there were ‘styles’.

I suddenly feel more cultured.

I am a BARBARIAN and cut and eat my food with my fork, in my dominant hand.

Does it feel like a trial? I'm 21-year-old male astronomy, mathematics, physics, and science geek who plays a lot of video games and does art (poorly).

I also do performance dance in a traditional Scandinavian dance group.

Amateur astronomy is one of my passions. I own three telescopes, and my pride and joy is my 16" Meade Lightbridge. I keep my promises, and my friends mean the world to me.

I quite enjoy being asked things - I always answer truthfully, though not always as intended. Very personal things should be asked off anon so that I can answer privately.

It should be noted that I am vegetarian, homeschooled, an agnostic atheist, and a fairly upbeat individual
